Ad Hoc: a position or committee created by the President that is given a specific charge; ad hoc positions and committees must be in place for one academic year before the charge can be reviewed for permanent integration or cessation.
Chair: the USS representative who facilitates and oversees their respective committee.
Election Information Session: a meeting held before elections begin to share information with potential candidates about the USS, positions, processes, etc.
Good Academic Standing: defined by the University as a student whose cumulative grade point average (GPA) is at or above 2.0.
Legislation: documents produced by the USS that articulate the opinions, actions, requests, or perspectives of the undergraduate student body.
Proxy: A representative that is in attendance in place of a USS representative. Proxies originate from the USS representative’s designated constituent group.
USS Representative: any appointed or elected leadership positions, including but not limited to President, Vice Presidents, Directors, and Senators, who are expected to uphold the values of the USS at all times.
Virginia Tech Student: undergraduate students attending the Blacksburg campus of Virginia Tech.
Vice Chair: the USS member that the committee chair chooses to directly assist them with or supervise committee operations.
