Article XIV: Misconduct Process
Section 1: Good Standing Checks
- If a student applies to be a member of the USS, the advising team must confirm their good standing with Student Conduct, the Honor System, and academics before the student can be approved for their application, interview and/or elections process. Additionally, the advising team must conduct good standing checks at the beginning of each semester to ensure that good standing is maintained.
Section 2: Active Allegation
- Because the Deputy Director is a mandatory reporter, if the Deputy Director receives a report that a USS member has allegedly engaged in misconduct such as inappropriate, discriminatory, or otherwise unethical behavior, it is the Deputy Director’s responsibility to elevate concerns to the related university adjudication systems (i.e. Title IX, Student Conduct, etc.). If the topic or issue does not align with the need for a university-level investigation, it is the responsibility of the Deputy Director to hold conversations with the involved USS member(s) to amend the concern or establish remedial steps. If the student continuously engages in behavior that indicates the need for reasonable concern regarding their efficacy as a leader, the Deputy Director and Senior Advisor for the USS uphold the right to remove them from their position with the USS.
